How the Waverley Bath Board Changed Our Routine

A handheld shower head resting on a bath board across an empty tub, with bottles standing in the side trays

Four years ago, my mother came to live with me after suffering a stroke that left her with partial paralysis and limited mobility. Since then, I’ve been her primary caregiver, helping with everything from daily routines to personal care while balancing work, household responsibilities, and the cost of running a home.

Caring for Mum is something I do out of love, but it certainly has its challenges. Money is tight, and professional home care and specialized medical equipment can be incredibly expensive. I’ve had to find practical, affordable ways to help her maintain as much comfort, dignity, and independence as possible in our home.

One thing we’ve done since she moved in is wash her hair every Monday and Thursday evening. It’s become our little ritual, a chance to talk, laugh, and enjoy some time together after the day.

But getting her in and out of the bathtub had become one of the hardest parts of my week. Re-injuring my back would bring our household to a standstill, and lifting and supporting Mum was physically demanding and stressful for both of us.

I considered putting a chair inside the bath, but it wasn’t a suitable solution. It was awkward, and I worried about damaging or puncturing the bathtub floor. Much of the proper senior bath equipment is far beyond my budget, and I didn’t want our bathroom to feel like a medical facility. I just wanted to make everyday care easier.

Then a realtor friend, who purchases Waverley Bath Boards as closing gifts for clients, introduced me. It was genuinely a game changer for us.

It was easy to install and just as easy to remove when we were finished. The adjustable footers underneath fitted snugly against the bathtub, providing a secure fit without complicated installation or permanent modifications. Best of all, it made positioning Mum beneath the shower, and assisting her out of the tub so much easier.

Something that had once been stressful and exhausting became a much more manageable part of our home care routine. We could enjoy our Monday and Thursday hair-washing nights again without the same worry and struggle.

I’m truly thankful we found the Waverley Bath Board. For anyone caring for an elderly parent or loved one, I would absolutely recommend it. If you’re looking for a smart, simple, and affordable solution for senior mobility, accessible bathing, or everyday elderly care at home, this is well worth considering.

Sometimes, one practical change can make a world of difference.
