Frequently asked questions
If this is your first Waverley bath board you may have questions. Browse the answers below, and if you can't find what you need, get in touch or visit our shop.
Why insist on cross-ply hardwoods for our boards?
Cross-ply construction layers the grain in alternating directions, which limits how much the wood moves as it takes on and gives off moisture. That movement is the reason a bathroom is hard on solid timber. It is still real wood: it will pick up character with use, and we don’t make mold-resistance or lifetime claims about it.
Do your bath boards come stained?
Some do, some don’t — it’s your choice when you choose one of our boards. We offer Raw (unstained and unsealed), Milk Birch (unstained), Cognac, Havana, and Plum. Our stained boards use a VOC / solvent-free stain and sealant that are both human, animal and plant safe. Based with beeswax, our sealant helps the board resist warping from moisture. Wood is a natural material, so expect it to age and show a little character over time rather than staying pristine forever.
How do I care for my bath board?
Our bath boards are very water friendly, sealed with natural beeswax based products, but your board still requires care from the elements and should be dried following use. As with any natural-based product, wood will degrade with use and extraordinary exposure to elements such as moisture. Care notes ship with every board.
How do I size the width of my bath board?
The Waverley Bath Board measures 30″ long × 11.75″ wide × 0.75″ thick. Our boards come with laterally adjustable footers so you can slide your board into the perfect snug position in your bath. Use a measuring tape to determine the inches you will need your board to span before ordering, since we can't offer returns for fit.
Do you ship outside North America?
Not yet. We currently ship within Canada only. US shipping is planned but not active.
What is your return policy?
Due to the wood nature and finish of our boards we have a short 7-day post-delivery return policy for reasonable and noticeable product defects. Our boards are made from natural materials and no two boards share the same grain patterns. Wood can also carry stains differently, and some board veneers have wooden notch caps — our standard is never more than two full notch caps per board top. These negligible differences that occur in natural materials are assumed by the buyer. We can't accept returns for fit or sizing, so please measure your tub before ordering, and we can't offer returns on raw, unfinished boards at all.
Can I buy bath board packages in bulk for corporate gifts?
Yes! Bath boards make incredible seasonal corporate gift packages for staff, executives, and clients. Give your team members a package that adds to their personal wellness and relaxation time, or make it a go-to client gift that is unique and creates a positive long-term connection.
What do bath salts do for your body?
Bath salts can help relax muscles, soothe tired or achy skin, and make a bath feel more restorative. Epsom salts provide magnesium, though significant absorption through skin isn’t well established. Warm water itself improves circulation temporarily, reduces muscle tension, and promotes relaxation. Fragranced salts can also enhance the sensory experience.
Can I sit on my bath board?
We don't recommend it, and we don't publish a weight rating. The board isn't designed, tested, or sold as a seating device.
What do your bath boards weigh?
An excellent question if you are buying a bath board for someone who has weakened strength or less mobility. Our bath boards weigh just under 10 lbs and can be easily placed and secured in a tub, assisting in bath tub accessibility.
Is it a mobility aid?
No. This is a premium bath board but not a certified mobility or medical equipment device. If you have serious mobility concerns, consult a healthcare professional for appropriate equipment.
Can I sell your bath boards in my store?
Yes you can! If you have a retail space or chain of stores and would like to sell Waverley bath boards in your locations, get in touch.
How can we make bath culture better for you?
Have a question that we missed? Have a bath culture topic, product idea, or board feature we should know about? We'd love to hear from you.
