The gift itself
What arrives at their door.
Photographed in the workshop: the trays and book groove your client will use, the maker’s mark, and the box it ships in.

Why it works
Nearly all of them would refer you. Far fewer remember to.
In NAR’s 2025 survey, 43% of buyers found their agent through a referral, and more than nine in ten said they would use that agent again or recommend them. Source 1: National Association of REALTORS®, National Association of REALTORS® 2025 That is intent, and intent fades. The gap between the client who would recommend you and the client who actually does is a memory problem, and it opens the week after closing.
A gift that lives in the bathroom is in front of your client on an ordinary Tuesday night, a year later, with their family name on it. That is the whole argument. Wine is gone by the weekend, and a cutting board is competing with the four other cutting boards their friends were given by their agents.

NAR’s annual survey of buyers and sellers: 43% of buyers found their agent through a referral from a friend, neighbour, relative or business associate, and more than 90% said they would use that agent again or recommend them. United States data — no Canadian survey measures the same thing, so read it as the pattern rather than as a Canadian number.
The closing-gift problem
Three ways a closing gift disappears.
Wine gets drunk.
A bottle is a lovely evening and then an empty bottle. Nothing about it is still in the house at the one-year anniversary, which is when you would like to be remembered.
Everyone gives a cutting board.
It is the default gift in this business, and your client can tell. A second engraved board goes in the cupboard behind the first one.
A logo on the front makes it about you.
Agents know how that reads, because they receive it too. A gift that markets the giver stops being a gift, and it is the fastest way to get something quietly donated.
What you are giving
A 30-inch birch bath board, made in Canada.
It spans the tub and holds what a person actually wants within reach: a book or a tablet propped in the groove, a candle in a draining tray, a glass in the bowled notch. Slide-adjustable footers fit tubs 29 inches wide or less, and setup takes minutes with no tools.
It is cross-ply birch: layered, cross-directional grain that holds its shape in a humid bathroom better than solid timber. The finish is VOC- and solvent-free stains and sealants that are human, animal and plant safe. It is real wood, so it ages and shows its use. That is usually the point.
The common objection first: not every client is a bather. Plenty of people use the board as a shelf for a book and a cup of tea, or for the room’s clutter, and it earns its place either way. But if you know the home has no tub, tell us before you order and we will help you decide. We would rather say so than sell you a gift that sits in a closet.
- 30″ × 11.75″ × ¾″, 9.5 lbs. Fits standard, freestanding and clawfoot tubs up to 29″ wide
- Bowled wine-glass notch, 12″ tablet groove and backstand, two 4″ × 6″ side trays
- Draining candle and soap trays, loofah hook, incense holder
- Four finishes: Milk Birch, Cognac, Havana and Plum
- FSC- and PEFC-certified timber, verified with supplier documentation

Personalization
Their name on top. Yours underneath, if at all.
The version we are building is deliberately two-sided: the family’s name and the closing date engraved on the top face, where the client sees it, and your name or brokerage mark small on the underside, where it is there when someone asks and invisible when nobody does. It is not a billboard.
- Client family name and closing date, engraved on the top face
- Agent or brokerage mark on the underside, small
- A short line of your own wording, if it fits the space
- No engraving at all, if you prefer the board plain
Not open yet
Engraving is not open yet. We are starting it with a small first group of agents, and the details are being worked out with them rather than announced at them. Email us if you want to be in that group. We will tell you what it costs and when it runs before you commit to anything.
Ask about the first engraving groupHow ordering works
Built around your closing date, not ours.
-
1 · Tell us the closing date
Email us with the date and the finish. One board or ten. There is no minimum here, so you are not committing to a dozen boxes to place a single order.
-
2 · We check stock against the date
Finished boards ship as soon as they are ordered. A run we have to make takes about two weeks through the shop before it ships, so the date decides which of those you are in. We tell you which one before you pay, not after.
-
3 · It ships to you or to them
To your office to hand over at the table, or straight to the client with a note. Shipping is free, anywhere in Canada.
-
4 · Reorder in a line
The next one is an email with a date on it. We keep your finish and your details on file so you are not re-explaining the order every time a deal firms.
We do not publish an on-time-to-closing promise, because one shop makes these and we would rather tell you a real date than a comfortable one. Deals firm late; tell us and we will tell you straight whether it can be there.
Pricing
What it costs.
One board
free shipping, Canada-wide
- Any of the five finishes
- No minimum, no setup fee, no account to open
- Ships to your office or to your client
Brokerage, team or volume
we will give you the figure in the first reply
- For a team buying through the season, a brokerage stocking ahead, or a gift company reselling
- Tell us the rough annual count and we will price it. No proposal deck, no discovery call
- Invoiced, so it goes through the books cleanly
100% deductible, where wine is 50%
CRA treats food, beverage and entertainment (the bottle, the gourmet basket) as 50% deductible. A non-consumable client gift is fully deductible when it is reasonable and documented, and we invoice with the recipient and purpose on it so it is documented. Confirm the treatment with your accountant; we make bath boards, not tax rulings.
Who makes them
Cut, sanded, stained and boxed in Alberta.
Small-batch, in the Calgary–Edmonton corridor. The boards are CNC-cut at a local shop, then sanded, stained, sealed and packed by hand. A full run takes about two weeks end to end, which is why the date matters more than the order form.
We would rather show you that than borrow someone else’s credibility. We are new to this channel and have no agent testimonials yet; when we have them they will be real ones, with names on them.
- Made in Canada: hardware and materials meet the Competition Bureau’s Canadian-content threshold for the claim
- FSC- and PEFC-certified timber
- VOC- and solvent-free finishes, human, animal and plant safe
- Free shipping across Canada; no US shipping yet
Also for
Not only agents.
- A funding-day gift that arrives after the file closes and stays in the house long after the rate is forgotten.
- One gift, one signing. Quiet, useful, and not another branded pen.
- A finishing piece for a handover, in five finishes that suit the bathrooms you just styled.
- A possession-day gift for a new home, where the bathroom is the room the owner has not personalised yet.
- Wholesale, by the pack. Tell us your volume and where you are.
Questions agents ask
What is the turnaround, and can you handle a rush?
Boards we have finished ship as soon as you order. A run we have to make takes about two weeks before it ships, plus transit. If a deal firms late, email us with the date before you order. We will tell you honestly whether it can be there, rather than take the order and hope.
Is there a minimum order?
No. One board is a normal order. Volume pricing exists for teams and brokerages, but nothing about it is a condition of buying.
Can I order boards ahead and have you engrave them when a deal firms?
That is the plan for engraving, and it is the reason we are building it for this channel first. It is not running yet. Email us if you want to be in the first group of agents we open it with.
Can I change the engraving details after I order?
Until it is engraved, yes. Names change, dates move, deals collapse. Once a board is cut with a name on it we cannot un-cut it, so we will confirm the wording with you before anything touches the board.
Where do you ship, and what does it cost?
Anywhere in Canada, free, via Freightcom. No shipping outside Canada yet. We can ship to your office or directly to your client.
Can I be invoiced, and will it work for my expenses?
Yes. For volume and brokerage orders we invoice, with the recipient and purpose recorded, which is what CRA expects to see behind a client-gift deduction. Single boards can go through the website on a card. Confirm the tax treatment with your accountant.
How does the client look after it?
Wipe it down and let it dry after a soak; do not leave it standing in water. It is real wood with a beeswax-based sealant, so it ages and shows its use over time rather than staying pristine. Full care notes ship with every board.
Start with one for yourself.
Most agents want to see the thing before they give it to a client at a closing table. Order a single board, put it in your own bathroom for a week, and decide from there. If it is going to a client instead, tell us the date.
We reply within 1–2 business days.
